Time off and holidays
Recovery is necessary for sustained good work. Employees should use their available time off and communicate planned absences early enough for the team to protect customers, commitments, and one another's workload.
For planned time away:
- Follow the approved request process for your location and employment type.
- Tell your manager as early as reasonably possible.
- Record the absence in the approved calendar or system after confirmation.
- Inform close collaborators and arrange ownership for time-sensitive work.
- Leave a concise handoff covering decisions, risks, and urgent contacts.
Unexpected illness, emergencies, and legally protected leave require a different level of notice. Contact your manager or the designated People representative as soon as reasonably possible; do not delay urgent care to complete a handoff.
:::caution Policy details pending People must add the authoritative entitlement, approval system, notice rules, holiday calendar, and jurisdiction-specific leave guidance. A universal four-week notice rule should not be published without that review. :::
