Onboarding
Onboarding should help a new employee understand the work, meet the people behind it, and make a useful contribution without carrying avoidable uncertainty.
Before the first day
The manager confirms the role, start plan, equipment, access requests, primary contacts, and first-week schedule.
The first week
The employee and manager review:
- the Mantra and this manual;
- the team's users, responsibilities, current objectives, and working agreements;
- required tools, security practices, and sources of truth;
- close collaborators and how decisions are made; and
- an initial piece of useful, appropriately scoped work.
The first month
Agree role expectations and early outcomes, schedule feedback, identify learning or mentorship needs, and remove access or process blockers. The goal is not maximum activity; it is growing clarity, confidence, and independent judgment.
Guidance type: Working agreement
